The PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) was formed by MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Diners, Discover Card and JCB in order to protect consumer card details from fraud. These standards must be adhered to by any organisation handling payment card information. In addition, the standard is applicable to any organisaiton that stores, processes or transmits payment card data.
